What is the purpose of having a website for your small business?

The usual functions that websites serve are:

  •   Improving trust and image of your business.
  •   Inviting more netizens to be your customers.

As a matter of fact, some people will usually buy from a company that they learn about on their own. And where would they probably learn about your company if not on the television or print? On the internet. So if they stumbled upon your website and realised how good it is, then they would probably have trust in your company.

Unlike a salesperson who sleeps, your website is always available to persuade and convince, and allow transactions or submissions of forms. It is awake 24/7!!!

In creating a website, you must invest on a good website developer.  Planning your website and understanding your goals and desires helps you to best prepare your project and put it to life with your preferred website developer.

Planning your Website - Understanding your goals and desires

These are some questions that you could ask yourself when planning of putting up a website:

  • How do I want my website to look? Will there be a theme or is it just random?
  • Who will be providing the web design online and any graphics or other media?
  • Who will be providing the informational content, including any text? Do you need a copywriter?
  • Will your site require regular updates?
  • Will you be selling something online? If so, what? And how will you want your transactions to be made?
  • Will you need a database to store or retrieve information?
  • Will you want any form submissions or other functions?
  • Will you want users to be able to or required to log in for certain or all aspects of your website?
  • What are your timeframe and budget?
  • What are your desires and expectations for your effective online marketing?
  • What about special services such as social media marketing, and other internet marketing promotions?

Choosing a website developer

This task is not as easy as it seems. The only people who can spot a good web developer are usually good website developers themselves. Make sure to get someone who is trusted by other businesses. It might have a higher rate but it is worth the investment.
